A motor should be balanced, aligned, and well-secured. Vibration indicates one of these conditions is missing. Causes of vibration include electromagnetic or mechanical imbalances, loose components, rubbing parts, bearing failure, and resonance in the motor stand. Strong vibrations have the potential to shear shafts, demolish bearings, and even break a motor’s mounting feet.
